Everybody at the hat game had to wear a hat or headgear of their choice -- a turban, a bandana, anything. Those who didn't have hats could make one out of a newspaper. The first task in the game was to describe what your hat is, what it does, and how you got it. The more bizarre a story, the better -- this was a science fiction camp, after all.

The second phase of the game required everybody to draw a slip of paper with a name of a random place on it (such as kindergarten, shopping mall, tank, desert) and describe how their hat would be particularly useful in that place. Lina's (right) story was voted the best by many. She said her hat was a piece of debris from the hull of a sunken ship. She had to explain how it would be useful in a shopping mall. Well, sometimes shopping malls develop a rat problem. And since rats leave sinking ships, mall owners often invite her to come and get the rats out. That's how she said she makes her living. :-)
