Women in Tech Machine Learning Product hackathon, July 28-29, 2018
Women in Tech Machine Learning Product hackathon was sponsored by Expero, Domino Data Lab and Capital Factory, which hosted the hackathon.
It was a typical hackathon in that people formed teams and, over the weekend, created minimal products based on machine learning. Now, whether those were minimum viable products, was another question. In my opinion, it is impossible to build a minimum viable product in a weekend; at most, you could build proof-of-concept.
It was also an atypical hackathon in that many participants were not software developers but data scientists. And quite a few of them came from academic backgrounds. Some teams, instead of demoing an app, put together a presentation of results they got by applying machine learning algorithms to a particular research area.
