17 months: Erika at the Radijazz Playnasium

When Erika turned 1 year old, we celebrated it in a lazy way by dragging our asses out to a park where we sat down under the tree (all the picnic tables were taken) and fed baby a cupcake. All the playground surfaces in the park were scorching hot in Texas midday heat, and Erika did not even venture off the blanket and on the grass. I don't blame her. But today Erika got a chance to experience a real birthday party, the kind good parents throw for their kids. :-) Steve's boss invited us and other coworkers with their families to his daughter's first birthday party. It took place at the Radijazz Playnasium (http://www.radijazz.com), an indoor children's playground.

At Radijazz, kids party in style! Thus, Erika made up for what she missed. Radijazz is fabulous. It has all kinds of climbing, sliding and throwing attractions to be experienced in the air-conditioned comfort. The carpet there is not just soft, but some kind of spongy and mushy, so my heels got trapped in it a few times, but didn't leave a hole when I pulled them out. :-)

That grey thing with black veins in the background is, ummm, I don't know: an iceberg? I think it's part of the "waterscape" area.

I wondered if this area was supposed to represent the flames of hell where naugthy children go. You could almost expect that in Texas. :-) But no, it turned out to be a tame secular volcano. :-)

This, at the top of the volcano, must be a lava pit. It is filled with red sponge cubes, beckoning to jump in.

Erika wasn't eager to bounce around in the sponge pit, even after Steve lowered her into it.

Erika loved a wooden slide. Stairs and slides are her thing. But why is it made of uneven planks? Is it a nautical motif, or what? It must make for a rather bumpy sliding experience. :-)

In what ways a toddler can use sunglasses? Why, of course, as climbing gear! :-)
